| Objectives of the Campbell Soup Homeowner Academy Section One: Homeowner Academy Instructor’s Guide |
||||
The Campbell Soup Homeowner Academy is designed to educate first time low-income homebuyers about the responsibilities associated with homeownership. The first phase of this program focuses on financial stability as the key to successful homeownership. Phase two addresses the issues of mortgages and the closing process. The third and final phase works to build networks among neighborhood residents and to provide a forum for issues that threaten the stability of the area. There is a fourth element to the process which addresses home maintenance and repair. This area is extensive and is covered in a separate course and a separate manual. This manual is designed to provide low income housing providers with a guide to the Campbell Soup Homeowner Academy model for household finance and homeownership training. It is written as a tool for educators, not as a guide for students. This book offers teaching strategies, lesson plans, and examples. It also includes basic assumptions and the theory behind the Campbell Soup Homeowner Academy model. There is an accompanying student book that presents complex concepts in language familiar to students. |
